The Big Sur coast

A voice that knows the road, riding along.

Audio guides for the roads between places. Download one while you have signal — then drive. It speaks when you reach each place, keeps quiet between them, and works where cellular doesn't.

How it works

1

Pick a guide and download it once — the whole thing lives on your phone, no signal needed again.

2

Drive. As you reach each place a gentle note sounds and the voice tells you what you're passing — history, names, what's worth a stop. Never a podcast fighting for your attention.

3

Far from the road? Every guide has a preview drive: the whole route, the moving map, from your chair. Mark what interests you as you listen, and it becomes your plan for the day you go.

Where it began

The first guide is the Big Sur coast, narrated from the writings of Mabel Plaskett, who lived it and wrote it for the Monterey papers. Her family has been on that coast since 1869. The Big Sur drive is where Place Name Guide began, and it will always be free.
